There is a need in the market for competent Agile Leaders, not in the form of a new formal role, but in an informal one. A person is only a true Agile Leader if she is able to inspire others to put the Agile Mindset into practice. An agile leader can also influence the agility and willingness to change of a company. IPMA's Individual Competence Baseline (ICB4) describes the competencies a person must have in order to be successful in project, program or portfolio management. The IPMA Reference Guide ICB4 in an Agile World describes how the various competencies can be interpreted in an agile environment.
The VZPM will offer the new IPMA® certification in Agile Leadership in 2020. The following titles may be sought:
- Certified Agile Organisational Leader IPMA® Level A
- Certified Agile Senior Leader IPMA® Level B
- Certified Agile Leader IPMA® Level C
- Certified Agile Associate IPMA® Level D
The certification processes will be similar to those for project, program and portfolio management certification. In addition, individuals with a valid certificate in the domain of project management will be able to approach certification in Agile Leadership in a shortened process. In these cases, the certification process will be reduced to the steps of application (including Executive Summary Report) and interview.
The IPMA Reference Guide ICB4 in an Agile World will give you an idea of the contents of the certification.
